Ramayyanpatti: APRIL 29-30, 2012

Jagadguru Graces Ramayyanpatti

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji reached Ramayanpatti in the evening of 29th April, 2012. The Jagadguru first had Darshan of Lord Vinayaka in the Ramayanpatti Agrahara and was welcomed to Ramayanpatti by the descendants of late Guru Bhakta Ratnam Sri K S Krishnaswamy (Kittamani Iyer).

In His Anugraha Bhashanam, the Jagadguru mentioned that the family of Sri Kittamani Iyer had the distinction of three successive generations welcoming the same Acharya at the same place. The Jagadguru expressed happiness that the same bent of mind and fortune in matters of serving the Guru had developed in the present generation of the family.

Just as the Lord is not pleased by external exhibition but by devotion, the Guru too is pleased only by true devotion. The Shastras say that देवमिव आचार्यमुपासीत – Worship the Guru as the Lord. The devotion towards the Guru will result in our Shreyas. It is natural for everyone to desire the best for oneself. This will come about only by the Grace of the Lord and the Guru. We observe Guru Bhakti even in the case of the Lord’s incarnations. The Jagadguru also mentioned that
Sri Kittamani Iyer had constructed a granite Mandapam for the performance of Sharada Chandramoulishwara Puja at Ramayanpatti. The Jagadguru recalled that Sri Iyer had the tendency to understand what the Guru thinks and would serve accordingly, even if the Guru had not expressed His thoughts in words. The Jagadguru added that it was for such devotion that the title of “Guru Bhakta Ratnam” had been bestowed upon him.

The following day, the Jagadguru had Darshan of Ganapati in the farm-house, gave Darshan to the devotees and in the afternoon, graced the Tiruvannathapuram village en route to Palamadai.
