Jagadgurus at Salem

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam arrived at the Sringeri Shankara Math in Salem to a rapturous welcome by devotees. The Ubhaya Jagadgurus had Darshan of Sri Mahaganapati, Goddess Sharadamba, Sri Adi Shankaracharya and Sri Kalabhairava in the temple premises.

Dhuli Pada Puja was performed by Dharmadhikari Sri Balasubramanian. Honorific citations in Tamil were read on behalf of the Mahajanas of Salem and the Mrigasheersham Committee. Sri Mahasannidhanam in His Anugraha Bhashanam expressed joy at the devotion of the residents of Salem.

MARCH 20 VISITS & PROCESSION

On March 20, 2017, Sri Sannidhanam visited the Ayyappa temple in the Salem Town Railway Station Road and had Darshan. Sri Sannidhanam in His Anugraha Bhashanam spoke of the greatness of Lord Ayyappa as the bestower of Jnana and Mukti. Sri Sannidhanam also mentioned to the assembled devotees that the Dharma Shasta Stotram composed by His Guru (Sri Mahasannidhanam) on Lord Ayyappa be chanted everyday in the temple. Sri Sannidhanam then had Darshan at the Kannika Parameshwari temple located in the Bazaar Street.

In the evening, the devotees of Salem arranged for a grand procession of Sri Sannidhanam. Sri Sannidhanam graced the beautifully decorated Vahanam and blessed scores of people who had Darshan during the procession.

MARCH 21 VISITS & GURU VANDANA

On March 21, 2017, Sri Sannidhanam graced Skandashramam. Sri Sannidhanam also visited the Kannika Parameshwari temple at Shevapet and had Darshan.

In the evening, a Guru Vandana program was organised. Before the program commenced, Sri Mahasannidhanam and Sri Sannidhanam blessed hundreds of needy and physically challenged people with artificial legs and tricycles.

In the Guru Vandana program, Dharmadhikari Subrahmanian explained that the Sharadamba temple had first been consecrated at Salem 102 years ago and that it was the fortune of the residents of Salem to be the Shishyas of the Jagadgurus of Sringeri. The Ghosha “Sri Guro Pahi Maam” on the Sringeri Jagadguru was first blessed and received by the devotees in Salem. Sringeri Math CEO V R Gowrishankar praised the devotees of Salem and the Committee for engaging in acts of philanthropy over the years. He said that it is the fortune of all disciples that we have a Guru in Sri Mahasannidhanam, who listens to the problems faced by every disciple and guides each while remaining equally accessible to all.

In His Anugraha Bhashanam, Sri Sannidhanam said that just before entering Tamil Nadu, Sri Mahasannidhanam had told Him that They are entering the land where Bhakti was born (जाताहं द्राविडे देशे). Sri Sannidhanam said that he was pleased by the devotion of the people of Salem. Sri Sannidhanam also underlined the importance and greatness of Guru Darshan stating that it removes sins committed in the past and is a harbinger of our welfare.

Sri Mahasannidhanam in His Anugraha Bhashanam spoke about the need for noble company. Sri Mahasannidhanam highlighted the qualities of a Satpurusha with illustrations from the life of Sri Rama and Sri Yudhishthira.

DEPARTURE & ENROUTE VISITS

During the stay at Salem, Sri Mahasannidhanam and Sri Sannidhanam gave Darshan to many thousands of devotees. On March 22, 2017, devotees received the blessings of the Ubhaya Jagadgurus and were blessed with Aashirmantrakshata by Sri Sannidhanam.

In the afternoon, the Jagadgurus had Darshan of the deities in the Sringeri Shankara Math. Sri Mahasannidhanam and Sri Sannidhanam also had Darshan at the Sannidhi of Kamadhenu and then departed from Salem to Namakkal.

En route, the Ubhaya Jagadgurus graced Rasipuram where devotees led by Sri Sadashivam accorded a devoted welcome. Sri Mahasannidhanam blessed devotees with an Anugraha Bhashanam and stated that we must pray to God to curb our ego, remain dispassionate, become compassionate and help cross the ocean of Samsara.
