33rd JAGADGURU JAYANTI PUJA & DEPARTURE
Later that morning, a special Puja was conducted on the occasion of the 159th Jayanti of the 33rd Acharya (Phalguna Krishna Ekadashi), Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji. The Ubhaya Jagadgurus had Darshan during the Mangalarati. Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Ashtakam and another hymn titled “Guru-dvaya-abhedha-anusandhanam” – both compositions on His Parameshti Guru by Sri Mahasannidhanam – were chanted on the occasion. The Jagadgurus blessed devotees with Darshan.
In the evening, a special Sabha was organised to commemorate the Jayanti Celebrations. Both the Jagadgurus gave Anugraha Bhashanams highlighting the illustrious life of the 33rd Acharya of Sringeri. Sri Sannidhanam recounted the achievements of His Parapara Guru. He also explained the simile given by Jagadguru Sri Vidyaranya in the Madhaviya Shankara Digvijaya that, though Lord Vishnu is present amidst the ocean of milk, He in His Krishna Avatara joyfully accepted the milk offered to him in the houses of cowherds. Likewise the Sringeri Jagadguru though being ever-content, receives the service rendered with devotion by people and graces all. Sri Mahasannidhanam stressed the need for Guru Bhakti and pointed out that it is due to the directive of His Parameshti Guru (whose Jayanti was being observed), that the world of Astikas celebrate the Shankara Jayanti as an expression of gratitude and reverence towards the great Acharya.
On March 25, 2017, the Ubhaya Jagadgurus blessed devotees with Darshan, Tirtha Prasada and Ashirmantrakshatras and proceeded towards Thenkarai in the afternoon. Enroute to Thenkarai, Sri Sannidhanam had Darshan at the Janakai Mariamman Temple in Sholavandan.
