The Jagadguru Graces Guntur
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji arrived at Guntur on 2nd March 2013 to a massive reception. Thousands of devotees led by Sri Polisetty Hariprasad and Sri Polisetty Shyamsundar accompanied the Jagadguru in a procession to the Sringeri Shankara Math at Guntur. On Arrival the Jagadguru had Darshan of Goddess Sharada and Adi Shankaracharya. After Dhuli Pada Puja by Sri Polisetty Hariprasad and Swagata Patrika Samarpanam in Telugu and Sanskrit, the Jagadguru gave an Anugraha Bhashanam, and then performed the Sharada Chandramoulishwara Puja.

On 3rd March, the Jagadguru graced the Yagashala of the Atirudra Mahayaga and Sankalpa took place for the welfare of humanity. The Jagadguru blessed the 121 Ritwiks and the Mahayaga began. The Jagadguru then visited the temples of Sri Ramalingeshwara and Sri Rama and had Darshan. After giving Darshan to the devotees, the Jagadguru graced the Poornahuti of the Shatachandi Mahayaga.

On 4th March, the Jagadguru performed the Kumbhabhisheka of Goddess Sharada and Adi Shankara and performed the Prathishta of Shivalinga in the Adi Shankara Sannidhi. In the evening, the Jagadguru offered a Golden Chariot to Goddess Sharada and a Rathotsava with the Utsava Moorthy of Goddess Sharada took place in the Jagadguru’s divine presence.

On 5th March, the Jagadguru inaugurated this year’s edition of the Saparikara Advaita Vedanta Sabha conducted annually by the Peetham in Andhra Pradesh. Eminent Vedanta scholars such as Vidwan Mani Dravid, Vidwan Goda Venkateshwara Shastri, Vidwan Dendukuri Narayana Sharma, and Vidwan Kuppa Vishwanatha Sharma discussed subjects from the Bhashyas of Sri Adi Shankaracharya on the Brahma Sutras, the Upanishads and Srimad Bhagavad Gita. The 3-day Sabha also had sessions in Nyaya, Vyakarana and Mimamsa – all presided over by the Jagadguru. The Valedictory function took place on 7th March evening. Scholars were felicitated and blessed by the Jagadguru. Vidwan Janamaddi Ramakrishna, the Convenor of the Sabha expressed joy that this year’s Sabha had taken place in the Jagadguru’s presence.
On 8th March, the Jagadguru visited the nearby Naagulapaadu town. The Jagadguru had Darshan at Sri Valli Devasena Sameta Subrahmanya Swamy temple, Sri Rama temple, and Sri Ganga Parvati Sameta Nagalingeshwara Swamy, and blessed the devotees with an Anugraha Bhashanam. In the evening, Ashtavadhanam by Shatavadhani Kota Lakshmi Narasimhan took place in the Jagadguru’s presence.
On 9th March, the Jagadguru visited the Sringeri Shankara Math at Kunchavaram, and had Darshan of Goddess Gayathri, Sri Dattatreya, Sri Adi Shankara and Lord Ishwara. The entire day saw a Harikatha Sammelan taking place at the Sringeri Shankara Math premises in Guntur. The Jagadguru presided over the Valedictory function and blessed the Harikatha exponents.

On 10th March, the Mahashivaratri day, the Jagadguru peformed an elaborate morning Puja to Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy in Sringeri Shankara Math. The Jagadguru began the elaborate Mahashivaratri Puja at around 7:30 am and performed the four Yaama Pujas until 7:15 am in the morning. Devotees from all parts of the country arrived at Guntur to witness this divine event.

On 12th March, a Pauranika Sammelan was held with the Jagadguru inaugurating the Sammelan. Renowned Pauranika Malladi Chandrashekhara Shastri gave an Upanyasam in the Jagadguru’s presence. The valedictory of the program took place in the evening and the Pauranikas were all feliciated. The Jagadguru in His Anugraha Bhashanam explained how Pauranikas have existed since time immemorial to propagate the values expressed in our Puranas.
On 13th March, the Jagadguru visited Sitarama Anjaneya Swamy temple and had Darshan. The Jagadguru also graced the Dharmika Vijnana Pranganam and had Darshan at Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple.
On 14th March, the Jagadguru inaugurated the new building of Sri Bharati Tirtha Veda Smarta Shastra Pathashala at Guntur. The Jagadguru later graced the Poornahuti of the Atirudra Mahayaga.
On 15th March, the Jagadguru graced the premises of the upcoming Sri Sringeri Sharada Rajarajeshwari Charitable Trust Hospital and blessed the ongoing construction activity. The Jagadguru then had Darshan of Panakala Narasimha Swamy temple and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Mangalagiri. In the evening, a grand Guru Vandana program was organized and the Jagadguru blessed the devotees with an Anugraha Bhashanam. The Jagadguru expressed joy over the conduct of many Dharmic activities during the two week stay at Sringeri.
On the afternoon of 16th March, the Jagadguru had Darshan of Goddess Sharada and Adi Shankara, blessed the devotees and started from Guntur.
