Palamadai: APRIL 30 – MAY 1, 2012
Jagadguru in the village of Sri Neelakantha Deekshitar
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji arrived at Palamadai on the evening of 30th April 2012. The Jagadguru was received with Poornakumbha at the entrance of the Agrahara and proceeded to have Darshan of Mangalamba Sameta Mangalaankureshwarar. The Jagadguru then had Darshan of Lord Viswanatha, constructed over the Samadhi location of Sri Neelakantha Dikshitar and Goddess Vishalakshi. Sri Neelakantha Dikshitar is revered as an incarnation of Goddess
Parashakti, as is expressed in a Shloka in the Adhishthanam:
अवतारः पराशक्त्याः इत्याहुर्यं मनीषिणः ।
नीलकण्ठमखीन्द्रं तं यतिवर्यं नमाम्यहम् ॥
In His Anugraha Bhashanam, the Jagadguru spoke about the greatness of Sri Adi Shankaracharya and quoted the first verse from Sri Adi Shankaracharya’s Dhanyashtakam explaining that, that alone is knowledge the obtainment of which results in subduing of the senses, that alone is to be known which is explained in the Upanishads and those people indeed are blessed who are clear about the ultimate objective of life.
The Jagadguru expressed great joy in coming to Palamadai and blessed the residents of the Agrahara.
